kpopguessr is a free daily K-pop guessing game. We care about your privacy and keep data collection to a minimum. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is processed, and what rights you have over it.

All visitors: An anonymous identifier and your game scores, generated automatically when you play your first game.

Registered users: Email address, username, and profile picture from your OAuth provider (Google, Discord, etc.), along with your game scores.

Automatically: IP address, browser type, and pages visited (server logs).

Why We Collect It

We collect data to provide and improve the game service. This includes tracking your scores, displaying the global leaderboard, enabling account creation and management, and ensuring the security and proper functioning of the site. We do not collect any data beyond what is necessary for these purposes.

Who Processes Your Data

We rely on trusted third-party services to operate the site, including providers for database hosting, web hosting, and media storage. These providers only process your data as necessary to deliver the service on our behalf. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or any unrelated third parties.

Data Transfers

Some of our third-party providers are located outside the European Union, including in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the EU, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, ensuring your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

Data Retention

Anonymous accounts are deleted after 6 months of inactivity. Registered accounts are deleted 30 days after you request it. Server logs are kept for 12 months maximum.

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the service. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function. This includes a session cookie to keep you logged in.
